Mauricio Herrera, who recently won the vacant NABF junior welterweight title in a technical decision over Hank Lundy, gave his thoughts on tonight's Premier Boxing Champions clash between Paulie Malignaggi and his former foe, Danny Garcia, at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Malignaggi has not fought since April 2014 when he was knocked out by Shawn Porter in four rounds. The odds looked stacked against the New Yorker, but Herrera believes he could yet pull off a victory.

"I think Paulie can still give him problems," Mauricio told BoxingScene.

"Danny hasn't looked good himself either, you know? He fought me, then Salka just for two rounds, then Peterson and he didn't look that sharp to me. It'll be a tough fight, it depends on how dedicated Paulie is at this stage, he's doing commentating and different things. I hope he is taking it seriously and giving it 100% in camp. Maybe he is, he's still hungry and he can give Danny some problems."

As far as his own recovery from the two huge cuts he suffered against Lundy, Herrera offered an update with regards to his progress.

"I had the stitches out like two days ago, the doctors said I have to wait two months before I can spar but hopefully it heals a little sooner than that. I heal pretty quickly, but I've never been cut like this."
