Billy Nelson, the trainer for heavyweight contender Martin Bakole, believes his boxer would stop former WBC world champion Deontay Wilder.

Wilder has been out of the ring since blasting out Robert Helenius in one round last October. The outcome would see Wilder snap a two-fight losing streak at the hands of Tyson Fury.

Bakole is ready and willing to face Wilder as soon as possible.

"There's absolutely no hesitation, if Andy Ruiz and Wilder doesn't get made, for Martin to fight Wilder," Nelson told Sky Sports.

"Wilder says he wants to fight the best. Well, let's get No 1 and No 2 in the WBA [rankings]. Get that on in America on a pay-per-view card, and the winner moves on to a world title fight."

Wilder was ordered to face former unified champion Andy Ruiz in a WBC final eliminator. That fight has failed to take place, as the two former beltholders have been unable to agree on the financial terms.

Bakole would come at a much cheaper price.

But, Nelson expects his man to close the show if the contest happens.

"Martin will stop Deontay Wilder," Nelson said. "He's far too skilful for him and will eventually get to him."

Bakole raised his record to 19-1, with 14 wins via knockout after a third round battering of Ihor Shevadzutskyi in April.

Last year, Bakole pulled off a big win when he traveled to France to drop and decision Olympic gold medal winner Tony Yoka over ten rounds.

Wilder is regarded as one of the most dangerous punchers in the sport, with 42 knockouts in his 43 victories.
