On May 15 at the WaMu Theater in New York's Madison Square Garden, WBA junior welterweight champion Amir Khan will make his American debut against former champion Paulie Malignaggi. We caught up with Malignaggi to discuss the upcoming fight.

1. Paulie, what do you know about your next opponent, Amir Khan?

I respect Amir Khan for coming to America and fighting Paul Malignaggi in New York City, shows alot that he's coming into my backyard and fighting me. He's a slick boxer as well, but it's going to be my night.

2. How many fights of his fights have you seen?

My team has studied him, can't really go off of some of the fights because he wasn't fighting elite fighters, and some were way passed their prime.  But we know he's going to come to fight, and were ready.

3. What do you expect of Khan in this fight?

I expect him to bring his A-game. He's probably going to try and make a plan to defeat me, but he's never been someone whose feeling at the top of his game right now, that isn't over the hill or unknown. So he has his hands full on May 15th.

4. What are his advantages?

He's a skilled boxer, very crafty.

5. What are your disadvantages?

Will see were his heart is at. A fighter who doesn't have heart is in a huge disadvantage, everyone know Paulie Malignaggi has heart. I've showed it in numerous fights. We know Prescott exposed his jaw, but that was one fight. They don’t call me Magic Man for nothing, I got some tricks up my sleeve.

6. Khan is very fast. Who will be faster in this fight?

I'm fast as well, it's going to come down to whose in better shape, and Paulie Malignaggi is always in great shape. And my punch combinations will be bouncing off Amir Khan's face come May 15th.

7. Do you think you will feel the pressure before this fight?

Not all, he has more pressure then anyone. I'm in New York City, everyone’s going to be cheering my name. That motivation from my fans is going to give me that extra boost. Amir Khan has to fly here, he has to here the boo's from the magic man fans, so the spot lights on him. I've been in those shoes, and I think I showed why I belong here.

8. How have you prepared for the fight with Amir Khan? Have you worked on anything new in your training?

That everyone is going to have to see on May 15th. A magician never tells his secrets.

9. Are you worried that you may lose to Khan?

I don't think about that, if you go into a fight thinking you might lose, chances you’re going to lose. I'm going into this fight to win, and showcase my talent.

10. Do you think you can knock Khan out in this fight?

Anything’s possible, people don't understand is, this is the sport of getting hit, if a person gets his enough, there eventually going to break. Just like chopping at a tree, it will eventually fall. People don't think Paulie Malignaggi has power, but a punch is a punch. And I don’t know to many people who like to get punched in the face and I highly doubt Khan does.

11. In your first fight with Diaz, you felt cheated by the judges, are you concerned about this happening in this fight?

No, there would be a riot in New York City

12. Do you think this will be a mentally fought bout ?

Fighting is full of mental games as well, it's been a war of words on twitter. So, always got to find a way to get inside your fighters head before the fight, Mayweather does that well.

13. If you beat Khan, who will be next on your list?

Tons of great competition at this division, but we are looking at Amir Khan, who is in my path.

14. The last time you fought a guy from the U.K. (Ricky Hatton) you lost. Would you like a rematch with him if he ever decided to make a comeback to the sport?

Of course, but I think he's done. That fight doesn't sit in my mouth to well, so Yes I would like a rematch.

15. Why do you think Amir Khan wanted to fight you?

He wants to make a huge name in the United States and fighting Paulie Malignaggi in New York, is a perfect way to make that noise, but sorry for him it's going to get cut short.

16. Do you want to say something to the fans of boxing from Poland?

Man, I like to seriously thank all my fans in Poland, means alot!  Please tune in on may 15th and watch me battle Amir Khan. I appreciate all my fans around the world.   Please follow me on twitter.com/paulmalignaggi.
