Argentina's David Emanuel 'El Pirata 'Peralta (26-2-1, 14KOs) created quite the shockwave on Saturday night in Anaheim, California - when he pulled off an upset twelve round split decision over former world champion Robert 'The Ghost' Guerrero, (33-5-1, 18 KOs).

Peralta, a 70-1 underdog, started slow but made some adjustments in the second half of the fight to continuously land his right hand on Guerrero. The live crowd at the Honda Center was left stunned when the scores were announced - 116-112 and 115-113 for Peralta and 115-113 for Guerrero.

Besides being a huge underdog, Peralta had been inactive since May of 2015 and actually saw himself as being retired from the sport. He was working back home in Argentina as a cab driver.

No more cabs for Peralta. He now wants to focus on his boxing career.

And he already has another well known former world champion sizing him up, Paulie 'Magic Man' Malignaggi (36-7, 7KOs).

Malignaggi believes his advantage in speed of hand, and foot, would be enough to end Peralta's Cinderella story.

"Nice win for Peralta. I wouldn't mind a shot at him next. He's good but doesn't fight the fastest of paces, tactical but a little slow," Malignaggi stated.

Malignaggi was in action last month at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. He outboxed fellow Brooklyn fighter Gabe Bracero over ten rounds for a wide unanimous decision.

Making that fight should not be difficult. Malignaggi is advised by Al Haymon and fights under the Premier Boxing Champions banner. Peralta is promoted by Sampson Lewkowicz, who works closely with Haymon and they work side by side with several fighters.
