Former champion Marcos Maidana (35-4, 31KOs) is going to stay away from the ring until Floyd Mayweather Jr. (46-0, 26KOs) make an official decision regarding a planned return on September 13.

Maidana has been relaxing since the twelve round majority decision loss to Mayweather in their May welterweight unification.

Because the fight was closer, and much tougher for Mayweather than many expects predicted, Maidana believes he did enough to secure an immediate rematch.

Maidana says his advisers, Sebastian Contoursi and Al Haymon, will work out the details regarding a rematch. Haymon is also the adviser to Mayweather.

"If Mayweather offers me the rematch, obviously I will accept it. Although I do not know if he will, and I realize that this is a business - I'm not desperate to fight. I did not win because I missed the opportunity to land a defining punch, plus [Mayweather] is an extraordinary boxer. Although I'm happy with the work I did, I thought the fight would be more difficult," Maidana said.
