At the Hard Rock in Las Vegas, former WBO interim light welterweight title holder Lamont Peterson punched his way to a TKO win over former lightweight contender Damien Fuller. Fuller’s corner threw in the towel as Fuller was against the ropes under a barrage of Peterson’s volume punches, forcing referee Joe Cortez to wave the bout off at 1:10 of the 7th round.

It was a bit strange to see Peterson (28-1, 14KO), who fought gamely in a losing effort to WBO champion Timothy Bradley on a major cable network back in December to fighting the evening’s walk out bout that likely didn’t even make the television broadcast.

Peterson took a couple of rounds to warm up to the task before starting to let his hands go and sit down on his punches in round 3.

Detroit southpaw Fuller (30-7-1, 14KO) occasionally caught Peterson with a counterpunch off the ropes but didn’t have the power to bother DC native Peterson, who methodically broke Fuller down with body to head combination punching before Fuller was rescued by his corner.
