A big boxing event is scheduled to take place on May 20 in Rostov-on-Don, with the main feature being a rematch between Russian cruiserweight, 31 year old Dmitry Kudryashov (20-1-0, 20 ??), and 36 year old Olanrewaju Durodola (24-3-0, 22 ??).

The fighters will battle for the WBC Cruiserweight Silver title, which is held by Kudryashov.

Kudryashov vs. Duradola has also been approved as a final WBC eliminator. The winner of the bout will get a mandatory crack at the WBC world championship - which is vacant at the moment, but a new champion is being crowned on Saturday when Mariusz Briedis and Marco Huck battle for the belt.

The history between Kudryashov and Duradola began in November of 2015, when in the city of Kazan they fought for the vacant WBC Cruiserweight Silver title (as the fate willed, a year later the same championship title was in Kudryashov’s hands after a fight with Santander Silgado, and it’s ownership will be challenged in the upcoming fight).

In the fight, the two punchers were both looking for the kill, but it was the dangerous Nigerian who landed first and took out Kudryashov in the second round.

Later, controversy erupted when a the doping sample provided by the Nigerian showed a positive result for a banned substance. However, quickly thereafter WBC acquitted Duradola after an internal investigation showed cause that his testing procedure may have been manipulated.

After a year and a half, the paths of these athletes will once again cross in a high stakes rematch.

Kudryashov, nicknamed the Hammer, had no problems in fighting his opponents and was literally sweeping everyone of his path. Since 2014, he's been pushed like a star by Russia's top promotional outfit World of Boxing. He blew away opponents like Juan Carlos Gomez and Francisco Palacios. He wants to get back in position to being the future force of the cruiserweight ranks.

Duradola took part in the Olympic games in Beijing, after which he decided to turn pro. In January of 2014 he got a right to challenge the title of the NABF North American champion in a fight versus a South African Tobisio Mchunu, losing on the scorecards. Since then Duradola was victorious in four bouts, and helped Denis Lebedev prepare for the fight with Youri Kalenga.

In November of 2015 he won the fight versus Kudrayshov, taking the vacant WBC Silver title - but lost it during his first defense against Briedis. Later, Duradola grabbed two quick wins to get the opportunity for this rematch.
