Welterweight contender Amir Khan (31-3, 19KOs) indicated on Tuesday that his team is finalizing the details for a fight with Manny Pacquiao in what would be the Filipino star’s final bout before taking to full-time politics.

Winner of world titles in eight different weight classes, the 36-year-old Pacquiao is recovering from a surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff following his defeat to Floyd Mayweather Jr in May.

Already a member of the country’s lower house of representatives, Pacquiao wanted to fight Mayweather Jr. again in April before focusing on his political career but Floyd has since retired with a 49-0 record in September.

“It would be an amazing fight, two fighters who know each other really well,” Khan told reporters in New Delhi of a potential fight with Pacquiao.

“We have trained together, sparred together and obviously I have left it to my team."

“I’m on a vacation here, my office arranges the fights for me. If the fight happens, it would be an amazing fight, it would be a big fight.”

Khan's father, Shah, told The Daily Mail that his fighter agreed to all terms and they sent the contract back to Pacquiao's promoter, Bob Arum of Top Rank, last Friday, for a fight in Las Vegas on April 9th.

"Our paperwork went off to Arum on Friday and every point is covered," Shah said to the paper. "The location is definitely the US. The date in April may vary by a week or so but April is the month."

Shah did caution that a Plan B is in place, in the event their discussions fall apart. They have a January date in place as a backup.

'We have been here before, with Mayweather so While we are confident the contract will be back with us in the next few days we are holding the second Saturday in January as a fall back date for an alternative fight.," Shah said.
