PUNTERS on Betfair are backing Amir Khan to make a successful third defence of his WBA world light-welterweight title against Marcos Rene Maidana in Las Vegas on Saturday. The Bolton-born champion is just 4-11 to retain his 140lb belt.

Title challenger Maidana claims he can knockout the champ with one punch, but odds of 11-4 suggest the Argentine could struggle against 24-year-old Khan. The draw trades at 64-1.

Khan can be backed at 11-10 to win the bout by KO, as he has in his previous two title defences, while he is available at 5-2 to triumph by judges’ decision. Maidana is a 3-1 shot for victory by knockout and 29-1 to win by decision.

Betfair’s Alex Bake said: “Both men have incredible records in the ring, just one defeat each. And while Maidana will prove a tough test, the punters are backing Khan to win on his Vegas debut.
