Earlier this week, a story on BoxingScene.com ran in which WBC interim middleweight champion Carlos “El Caballo Bronco” Adames responded to a call out from former title challenger Erickson “Hammer” Lubin.

Adames expressed little interest in the fight.

“Tell him get in line,” Adames told Broadway Joel during a recent interview. “The line is long.”

Both fighters were in action on June 24th and both men picked up victories.

Adames stopped former unified champion Julian “J Rock” Williams in the main event while Lubin stopped Luis “Cuba” Arias in the co-featured bout.

When Lubin’s trainer Kevin Cunningham was made aware of Adames’ comments, he chuckled.

“Get in what line? There’s no marquee names calling him out and he’s only got one name on his entire resume and that is Julian Williams.  The last time I checked he’s not even a champion in the middleweight division. No disrespect to him and his team, he’s a damn good fighter,” Cunningham told BoxingScene.com.

“But who the f--- knows Adames outside of hardcore boxing fans? He’s talking about Jermall and other marquee names ducking him. These guys have put in the work and established themselves to make mega fights.

“We would only be interested in Adames if the WBC regular title was on the line. If the fight were to happen, Erickson Lubin has a bigger fan base than Adames."

Cunningham took it a step further and said that there are other reasons why Adames wouldn’t be interested in facing Lubin.

“We have history with Adames in a couple of sparring sessions. Trust me, he don’t even want to talk about how those sparring sessions went,” said Cunningham.
