BoxingScene.com sat down with former welterweight champion Kermit Cintron to discuss various topics that pertain to his career. Cintron talks about his fight with WBC interim-junior middleweight champion Sergio Martinez, a possible fight with Miguel Cotto in June and more.

BoxingScene.com: Boxing fans last saw you on HBO against Sergio Martinez. Talk to us about that fight.

Kermit Cintron: "It was a really competitive fight. It was a tough fight for both of us. It was a really close fight. The judges had it a draw and you have to respect that."

BoxingScene.com: This was your first fight at junior middleweight though once in your career you were as high as 153lbs. How did the weight feel?

Kermit Cintron: "It felt good. I felt great, strong. I didn't feel too much of a difference in the weight."

BoxingScene.com: Now you're moving back to welterweight where your name is being mentioned along with IBF champ Joshua Clottey and WBC champ Andre Berto as possible opponents to WBO champ Miguel Cotto. What did you think of Cotto's performance against Michael Jennings?

Kermit Cintron: "I think Jennings didn't do too much. I don't know if it was because of the crowd or that he got cold feet but Cotto did what he had to do to win the fight and become a three time world champion."

BoxingScene.com: Miguel Cotto is scheduled to fight at Madison Square Garden on June 13th which is the eve of the Puerto Rican Day Parade. How big of an event would it be for two Puerto Ricans to face off on that date with the thousands of boxing fans, many making the trip from Puerto Rico, in attendance?

Kermit Cintron: "I think it would be a huge event with both of us coming from Puerto Rico. You have many Puerto Ricans in New York which would make it such a big event. I think it would definitely break records. Ticket sales would be great. It would be a hug, huge event and I'm hoping to be the next person in line for Miguel Cotto."

BoxingScene.com: You've said in the past that you wanted to face Miguel Cotto. Now your name is mentioned in a very short list of fighters. How does that make you feel?

Kermit Cintron: "It's always an honor. Miguel is a great fighter and a great champion. I've had some opportunities but I believe that this is the time for me, a big opportunity for me, to show up and shock the world."

BoxingScene.com: When are you planning to get back in the gym in case you're next in line to face Miguel?

Kermit Cintron: "I'm actually starting back in the gym next week. I usually take a week and a half off after a fight. Next week I'm back in training."

BoxingScene.com: When Cotto fights at the Garden the crowd goes crazy in support of him. How will you react to the crowd?

Kermit Cintron: "We're both Puerto Rican and I know that Madison Square Garden is his second home. It may be that the crowd is on his side but at the end of the night the crowd will be cheering for us both."

BoxingScene.com: How do you think a fight between Cotto and yourself plays out?

Kermit Cintron: "I think it will be an explosive fight. Cotto always brings his A game. He's a great boxer and a great fighter. He's a good puncher as well and so am I. It will be explosive while it lasted and I believe that if I'm given the opportunity on June 13th it would break records selling tickets at Madison Square Garden. It would definitely be a sold out crowd."

BoxingScene.com: Kermit, thanks for your time and good luck.

Kermit Cintron: "Thanks."
