Former four division world champion Juan Manuel Marquez, 44-years-old, would like to say goodbye to the fans who supported him for decades.

Marquez (56-7-1, 40 KOs), inactive since 2014, tried numerous times to return to the ring, but his body always fell apart. Numerous injuries related to his shoulder, his knee and even a bicep tear - spelled the end for his career.

After several failed attempts, he announced his retirement from the sport.

Even if he's unable to fight again in the ring, Marquez would like to hold some type of a fan event to express his appreciation for their years of support.

"There was no farewell fight and I tried to make it happen. As they say, doing nothing is worse than not trying at all - and I tried. The body grumbled, my body took a toll from all of the years from when I was in boxing. Since I was 33 years old, the injuries did not let go of me and that's why I decided to retire. The shoulder, biceps and my knee - they told me to say goodbye," Marquez said.

"I'm still training and running because the body misses it, there has not been any discussions [about fighting again] or anything. We want to hold a press conference in a large place like the Zócalo, in order to thank all the people for their support, but we are dealing with it in more detail."

Juan Manuel discussed his adventures in the media, where he is currently an analyst for some popular programs that are televised by ESPN Deportes.

"I've been a commentator for seven years now, I started in 2010. I trained and worked, now we continue in the same way but doing other things. I like the work I have, and not just here, but also in the United States," Marquez said.
