Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport is looking to stage a “super fight” between IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook and Mexican Legend Juan Manuel Marquez in the Spring of 2015 in Britain.

Brook, 33-0 (22 KOs), captured the title in August with a majority decision (116-112, 117-11, 114-114) over the then-unbeaten, Shaun Porter at the StubHub Center, Carson, California.  The Sheffield native has been out of the ring since an unprovoked machete attack left him requiring 32 staples in his leg.  Brook is about to begin light training after a lengthy rehabilitation process and is targeting a return to action in the first quarter of next year.

Marquez, 56-7-1 (40 KOs), is looking to win a world title in a fifth weight class having previously held alphabet titles in every division from featherweight to light welterweight.  The 41-year-old has had two previous attempts at claiming a global title at 147 lbs; firstly finding himself on the wrong end of a controversial majority decision against rival Manny Pacquiao in 2011 and last October he came up short on the scorecards against Timothy Bradley.  Now Hearn has presented him with a third chance to claim the title that has so far eluded him.

“I’d love to make Brook-Marquez in the Spring,” Hearn told BoxingScene this afternoon.  “I’ve reached out to Marquez’s team, he’s looking to win world title in five different weights and we’re willing to give him the shot.  It’s a massive fight, Marquez is a huge name in world boxing.

“I’ve spoken to HBO and it’s a certainly a fight they would be interested in.  We’ve reserved Sheffield Arena for March 7, but a Marquez fight would require a bigger venue.  Now we are just waiting for a response from his team to see if it’s a fight that can be made.”
