SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Popular Mexican fighter and former WBC lightweight world champion Jose Luis “El Terrible” Castillo (56-8-1, 48 KOs) will get back in the ring against Argentine Sebastian “Iron” Lujan (29-5-2, 20 KOs) in a 10-round welterweight battle on Wednesday, July 30, live on ESPN2 at 9:00 p.m. ET/6:00 p.m. PT.

The evening of boxing is promoted by Sycuan Ringside Promotions and will take place at the Sycuan Indian Reservation in El Cajon, Calif. (suburb of San Diego).

Tickets for the outdoor venue are on sale now.  Tickets are priced at $200, $125, $75, $50 and $30.  You can purchase online at www.sycuan.com, via phone at (619) 659-3380 or in person at the Sycuan box office.

“We’re extremely pleased to bring a boxer as talented and as gifted as Jose Luis Castillo to fight at the Sycuan Indian Reservation,” said Sean Gibbons, matchmaker for SRP.  “He loves challenges and he is a joy to watch.  I’m glad Sycuan was able to bring this fight to our loyal fans of San Diego.”

Castillo has had a remarkable career having notched victories against Stevie Johnson, Joel Casamayor, Juan Lazcano and Julio Diaz.  He also lost two, close decisions against former pound-for-pound king and five-division world champion Floyd Mayweather, Jr.

He is best known for his epic match against Diego Corrales on May 7, 2005.  Both fighters absorbed a tremendous amount of punishment.  Castillo finally broke through and scored two knockdowns in the tenth.  After the second knockdown, Corrales spit out his mouth piece and was deducted a point.  Corrales roared back and unleashed a flurry of punches that devastated Castillo.  Castillo would lose via tenth round TKO.
