Venezuelan former champion Jorge Linares could have his first skirmish of this year in Manchester, England, as confirmed by his American promoter Golden Boy Promotions. The situation has not been fully confirmed as the main manager of the boxer, Japanese promoter Akihiko Honda, has yet to define the next steps of the boxer's career.

Linares had a good run in 2010 when he reappeared after his loss to Juan Carlos Salgado. He got three wins against top quality opponents such as Francisco Lorenzo, Ricardo "Rocky" Juarez and Jesus "Matador" Chavez.

Linares' rival could be Britain's John Murray, who is unbeaten in 40 appearances, and has strong aspirations to enter the world rankings.

For now, the only thing certain is that everything is being reviewed by Honda of Teiken Boxing.
