Former world champion Jorge Rodrigo 'La Hyena' Barrios (50-4-1, 35KOs) has been released from prison. He was scheduled to be paroled next month, but came out Thursday and will be on probation after spending two years and three months in the Olmos maximum security prison in Argentina. He will remain on probation.

In 2010 in Mar del Plata, Barrios was involved in an automobile accident where he killed a pregnant woman and then fled the scene. Eight hours later he turned himself in. He was arrested and then, after spending 22 days in jail, paid bail and remained in the town of Junin.

Finally, in November 2014 Barrios was arrested and charged for the crime of manslaughter and was issued a sentence to serve of 3 years and 7 months, although at first it was four years and then lowered.

The boxer turned 40-years-old last August. Last year, the boxer was interviewed in prison by Diario Hoy and despite breaking into tears several times - he was optimistic.

"I want to come out and be able to realize my dream, and that is to finish my career as world champion. I was in hell and now I want to go back to heaven. I want to apologize to all boxers and for the bad example that I set with society. I'm totally embarrassed," Barrios said. "Boxing is my life, my love and to celebrate my birthday in the ring is the most wonderful thing that can happen to me.

Barrios has been inactive since October of 2010. He won his last three fights after suffering a TKO defeat in a close and exciting fight with Rocky Juarez in September 2008 in Houston, Texas,
