Jonathan Guidry quickly proved that Jesus Escalera’s inflated record would be no match for him, scoring a one-punch knockout in the second round to suddenly end the fight.

The experienced Guidry (20-1-2, 12 KOs) landed a right hand on the side of Escalera’s temple, and Escalera (19-1, 19 KOs) took a knee after a delayed reaction and failed to get up at the count of ten.

The official time of the stoppage was announced at the two-minute mark of the second round.

Escalera – a 43-year-old Florida-based Puerto Rican – made his pro debut in October 2022 and racked up 19 fights predominantly in the Colombian circuit, never fighting past four rounds.

The Louisiana-based, 33-year-old Guidry came into the fight having beaten Bermane Stiverne via unanimous decision in January and having lost to Trevor Bryan via unanimous decision in 2022.

Escalera is trained by Nate Campbell and is the nephew of former WBC junior lightweight champion Alfredo Escalera.
