American heavyweight contender Kevin Johnson (29-3-1, 14 KOs) is getting ready for his return to the ring which will take place on November 26th at BB&t in Sunrise, Florida. The 34-year old “Kingpin” will face former WBC challenger Odlanier Solis (20-1, 13 KOs). The bout is scheduled for 12 rounds with the IBF Inter-Continental title at the stake. Johnson is coming back to the ring after his 10th round KO victory over Salomon Haumono (21-2-2, 19 KOs) in April.

Q: Hello Kevin, how are you? How have you been since your last ring appearance?

A: I've been great, I've been in the gym for the past 5 months training the way I should always train, 24/7!

Q: Your next fight will take place late in November and your opponent will be a former Olympic gold medalist Odlanier Solis from Cuba. What can you say about this fight? Was it hard to make a good deal with Solis team?

A: I'm glad that I finally get a chance to fight a top 5 guy in the US. This is something that I've always wanted, and now I get it.

Q: Do you think Solis is your hardest opponent so far, with the exception of Vitali Klitschko?

A: No, he's not my hardest , I've been in there with some guys that was tough as a nail. But I can't taking nothing from this guy, he's stepped up to the plate and he's ready for a Down South, home cooked ass whippin ( ATL Georgia / New jersey Style).

Q: Some years ago many people thought that Solis was a fighter with brilliant future. Some years later... we may honestly say he wasted his talent and he is not a good enough to become a world champion. People still think about his talent, but say he leads an overweight and lazy lifestyle... Do you agree with that?

A: On Nov 26th, the whole world we see me at my best and I'm going to put this guy through hell and hot water! After then we all will know who and what this kid is really made of.

Q: How is your training camp going before this fight? Do you have a good game plan for an opponent, who has a good technical skills and long reach? You couldn't beat Tyson Fury, who also possesses a long reach... What's the key to beat Solis?

A: His weight, his reach, nor his skills won't play into a huge factor, our styles and methods will determine who'll be the winner. It's gonna be like a chess match for the first 2 rounds, but after then I'll checkmate him!

Q: I asked about Tyson Fury's fight, you lost in England easily after a 12 round decision. What can you say about that fight? What went wrong?

A: I can't say nothing about the Fury fight but first thing, I trained for 9 days for that fight and the outcome was exactly what it was. That's why now I'm training all year round the way I used to. So hopefully Wilder and other fags will step up to the plate and fight! So we can show the world who really is the king.

Q: What is your goal right now? As we know Vitali Klitschko is very close to retirement, his brother Wladimir has mandatory challenger Kubrat Pulev and there's still a vacant WBA regular belt. Which way will you go if you beat Solis?

A: I'm going to beat Solis, knock out Wilder in 7 rounds, and then get back in there with Vitali and claim my prize of being heavyweight champ!

Q: Have you seen the heavyweight fight which took place last Saturday between Mike Perez and Magomed Abdusalamov? As we know Mago had a serious brain injury and he's still in coma and he's fighting for his life. What can you say about this dramatic situation?

A:  That’s why I'm a very great defensive boxer, because at the end of the day the fans, the announcers - no one steps out that ring and has to deal with the effects of a fight but the fighter. He is in my prayers, I want to send my love to his family and there time of dealing with this situation, and I hope and pray that he'll pull through this.

Q: What’s your pick for Adamek - Glazkov fight?

A: I'm picking Glazkov, I sparred with him for weeks for this fight, and we had some tough sessions...no day was a light day. He helped me prepare for Solis and he's more than ready for Adamek.

Q: Any closing thoughts or message to boxingscene.com readers?

A: Yes, look out for me bring those championship belts to a city near you! Thanks for the time, love and support!
