Mesi by his own admission says his brain did have bleeding. A subdural hematoma (a localized swelling filled with blood resulting from a break in a blood vessel) caused in his last bout.

Even the neurologist says so but claims the vein that bled no longer exists. This may be true, I am no expert of brain bleeding or damage, but I’ve been around boxing enough to know that another fight could be the end for any fighter much less a fighter that has had damage especially to the brain. Your brain gets rattled with every head blow and as far as I’m concerned, once damaged next blow doesn’t help it get cured.

He said that he would not be at greater risk than anyone else. That might be true but who would want to be the next fighter to test his brain or cause his death knowing that he had damage before. Is it worth having some heavyweight carry that thought in his mind forever?

If Mesi doesn’t get his license to fight back it may be a blessing in disguise for Mesi plus any other heavyweight that would fight him. After all, Mesi has never been a fighter that had good defense and has been known to use his face as a catcher’s mitt. Mesi was a good fighter up to a point in boxing but he has arrived to the point in boxing where you have to be better than just good. There are vicious hitters out there and I don’t personally think his brain can take it any longer. It would be nice to hear him complain about not being able to fight professionally for his next 50 years than to have to mourn for him sooner.
