The transient experiment at 175 pounds is officially over for Jesse Hart.

In 2019, the Philly native grew tired of skipping meals in order to make the super middleweight limit. Everything was going the way he envisioned it at first, winning a somewhat lopsided decision against Sullivan Barrera. Joe Smith Jr., however, made Hart rethink his choice.

The loss to the former light heavyweight champ essentially pushed Hart out of the division and back to his original stomping grounds. Making weight may have been an issue in years past but the 34-year-old has tinkered with his pre-fight formula and believes making 168 pounds will be a lot easier from now on.

Officially, Hart signed up with Premier Boxing Champions on what he acknowledges is a four-fight deal. To a certain degree, Hart (29-3, 23 KOs) was given a soft touch to ease back into things, something he made the most out of. Just last weekend, the super middleweight contender blasted out Elio Heraldo Trosch, stopping him in the second round at the MGM National Harbor.

The rest of the three fights remaining on his deal will be more of a fluid situation. With that said, Hart revealed that a certain trash-talking former champion has already been presented to him.

“The main name that was mentioned to me was Caleb Plant,” Hart told YSM Sports Media during a recent sit-down interview.

He hasn’t said much as of late, but Plant (22-2, 13 KOs) is in need of a bounceback win. In two of the biggest fights of his career against Canelo Alvarez and most recently David Benavidez, the slick-hitting former titlist came up just short.

Both Hart and Plant aren’t buddy-buddy. In fact, they don’t share a relationship at all. Still, there’s something about the 31-year-old that rubs Hart the wrong way.

“I’m not too fond of the guy. I would love to fight Caleb Plant.”
