Middleweight contender Hugo Centeno (26-1) will enter the ring against Jermall Charlo (26-0) for the interim WBC middleweight title with a lot of confidence if a deal to make the fight comes to fruition.

The fight was recently ordered by the WBC and the winner will become the mandatory challenger to the winner of the Gennady Golovkin-Canelo Alvarez rematch that will likely take place on May 5th.

The 26-year-old Centeno last fought in August when he starched the previously unbeaten Immanuwel Aleem in three rounds.  The win was his second in a row after suffering the first loss of his career.

"Honestly, I trained my heart out for that fight," Centeno told BoxingScene.com. "A lot of people tell me you learn a lot from your wins but you learn even more from a loss and the loss I took two fights before that really taught me a lot - who is there for you and what you have to do to train. I will never again take another fight lightly. I have been training my heart out."

As for the first Golovkin-Alvarez fight, Centeno thought that Golovkin had done enough to secure the victory. He has sparred with both men in the past but feels that the much younger Alvarez will have the edge in the rematch as he is just starting to enter the prime of his career.

"It was a close fight. I thought Triple G pulled it off in my opinion. I have been able to work with both guys and I think it played out the way I called it before the fight," said Centeno.

"I am hoping Triple G doesn't get old because if he does it is perfect timing for Canelo because he is the younger guy but very experienced and now he knows what to expect. If any jitters were there they are gone going into this fight. I had Triple G in the first fight but I think i am going with Canelo in the second one."
