According to promoter Ben Shalom of Boxxer, heavyweight contender Hughie Fury could potentially face Robert Helenius or Michael Hunter in his next fight.

Shalom was hoping to match Fury, the cousin of WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, in a domestic clash against veteran Derek Chisora - but the British veteran has very little interest in facing Fury.

The WBA recently ordered a fight between Fury and Helenius, but the sanctioning has yet to confirm if the winner would be guaranteed a world title shot.

"He wants the big fights," Shalom told Sky Sports News. "He wanted Chisora, I don't think that fight's going to happen now.

"He's looking at Helenius, we're looking at Michael Hunter.  There's big fights out there for Hughie. He's only 27. I think he needs that big win against a big name on Sky Sports that will take him into contention.

"That should be announced in the next few days. I'm excited for Hughie and hopefully he can get his career on track and we can start to look at the really big fights."

Fury (31-3) suffered his first career loss when he dropped a decision to then world champion Joseph Parker in 2017. He would later lose twelve rounds decisions to veterans Alexander Povetkin and Kubrat Pulev.

Since suffering his last defeat in 2019, Fury has won three in a row and looking to Helenius and Hunter as a way to build further momentum to a world title shot.

Helenius is riding high after back to back stoppage wins over Adam Kownacki, while Hunter has been undefeated since dropping a twelve round decision in 2017, at cruiserweight, to Oleksandr Usyk.
