New York - A few weeks ago, promoter Eddie Hearn has partnered with Gennadiy Golovkin (39-1-1, 35 KO’s) for his future fights while with DAZN. The partnership could see a big bump in the road should Golovkin lose to a very capable challenger on Saturday inside Madison Square Garden when he takes on Sergey Derevyanchenko (13-1, 10) for the vacate IBF, IBO titles. Hearn knows Golovkin is in a tough fight.

“Sometimes people overlook this fight,” Hearn told BoxingScene.com.

“Derevyanchenko has a great amateur back ground, great style, a real fun fight with Gennady Golovkin. I guess a lot of the people’s question is what does Gennady Golovkin has left, we think a lot but this is the type of fight which you can find out because it could be heavy artillery and a lot of warfare. I’m excited for it but worried in a sense because people are talking about these mega fights but you have to come through in the fights.”

Hearn doesn’t think Golovkin has mileage on his tires because of his age. He thinks Golovkin will be more motivated in his second run as a middleweight champion.

“He hasn’t had many rough fights until recently but when people talk about deterioration, he hasn’t showed any signs in the two Canelo fights which I think he’s won,” Hearn said of Golovkin.

“It can happen. I think he’s going to have a huge 2020 and he’ll look great Saturday.”

So how about a third Canelo Alvarez (52-1-1, 35 KO’s) fight. Hearn says that will be up to how Golovkin looks on Saturday.

“I think the pressure has to come from the fans and the broadcasters,” Hearn said.

“If he wins on Saturday and doesn’t look great, are the fans going to call for the fight, are the broadcasters going to call for the fight? Best place to call someone out is to look devastating. And let the fans be your voice saying we want number 3, You have to respect Canelo for his opposition, Danny Jacobs and Kovalev - but next year who is it going to be, is it going to be Golovkin or Demetrius Andrade. Is it going to be Billy Joe or Callum Smith?”
