Going the distance with top heavyweights has never worked out well for Dereck Chisora.

The 37-year-old Chisora has lost 12-round decisions to Tyson Fury, Robert Helenius, Vitali Klitschko, Kubrat Pulev, Dillian Whyte, Agit Kabayel and most recently Oleksandr Usyk. The odds of Chisora out-boxing Joseph Parker on Saturday night obviously aren’t favorable, thus it’s no secret Chisora will pressure Parker and try to turn their scheduled 12-rounder into a brawl.

Based on how Chisora prepared for Parker, David Haye, who promotes Chisora, can’t see them going the distance.

“We pushed it to the wire with Usyk last time out, you know, someone who’s ranked number one in the world, contender,” Haye said during a press conference Thursday in Manchester, England. “And I thought [Chisora] won the fight. It was a very tight fight, very close fight. Two of the judges had it by only two points, seven rounds to five. This time around, he’s not gonna leave it to the judges. There’s no mindset to try to win this fight on points.

“You know, Joseph Parker we know is an excellent boxer, one of the best jabs in the business. Ask Andy Ruiz. Ask Carlos Takam how his jab is, and it’s a killer. So, it’s a simple solution. We’re not having a boxing match with Joseph Parker. It has to be a fight. I can guarantee a knockout in this fight. There will be a knockout. This is not going the distance. This is about how much Joseph Parker can take. He’s got a great chin. He’s been 12 rounds with AJ, 12 rounds with Dillian Whyte, who hit him on the button many, many times. Dereck’s gonna have to do something very, very special on Saturday night.”

Stopping Parker inside the distance definitely won’t be easy.

The former WBO heavyweight champion has lost only a pair of 12-round unanimous decisions to IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO champ Anthony Joshua (24-1, 22 KOs) and Whyte (28-2, 19 KOs), the WBC interim champ. Whereas Chisora has lost by knockout or technical knockout three times, New Zealand’s Parker has shown one of the sturdiest chins in the heavyweight division during his run against top opposition over the past five years.

London’s Chisora (32-10, 23 KOs) and Parker (28-2, 21 KOs) both will have new trainers in their corners Saturday night at Manchester Arena.

Former two-division champion James “Buddy” McGirt just completed his first camp with Chisora. Parker hired ex-WBO middleweight champ Andy Lee following his 12-round, unanimous-decision victory over countryman Junior Fa (19-1, 10 KOs) on February 27 in Auckland.

“He’s brought in the big guns, you know, Buddy McGirt, a Hall of Fame trainer,” Haye said. “We’re adding whatever we can to give Dereck what’s needed to do the impossible. A lot of people are not giving Dereck a shot in this fight. But when you see how Dereck comes across the ring in the first round, I think you’ll understand exactly where this fight’s going. And it’s going in a very, very destructive manner. It’s gonna be all-out explosion from the first round. And get your popcorn and don’t go to the toilet.”

Chisora-Parker will headline a Sky Sports Box Office pay-per-view show in the United Kingdom and Ireland (6 p.m. GMT; £19.95). DAZN will stream much of the Chisora-Parker card in the United States (1 p.m. ET) and numerous other countries.
