Former world title challenger Jesse Hart (28-3) has been mentioned as a potential opponent for Edgar Berlanga (20-0) before each of the New York based super middleweight’s last two fights.

After Berlanga defeated Roamer Alexis Angulo on Saturday night at the Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden, the question came up again.

“You know, whoever’s on the list,” Berlanga told a group of reporters. “You know what I’m saying? If the money’s right, everything good, we make it happen.”

Hart and Berlanga shared the same promoter in Top Rank for several years. Hart has stated on multiple occasions that he was interested in the fight.

The 32-year-old Hart is now promoted by RDR Promotions and is now more focused on fighting former super middleweight champion Caleb Plant. He said that the Berlanga’s purse has never been an issue and that the fighter of Puerto Rican descent has simply never wanted to fight him.

“He wouldn’t fight me with a machine gun and a machete. Him and his whole team are scared. The money been right. They just scared to get this money because he only wants easy money,” Hart told BoxingScene.com.

After winning the first 16 fights of his career by first round knockout, Berlanga has went the distance in his last 4 bouts.

Hart has won 2 fights in a row since dropping a split decision to Joe Smith Jr.
