Last week, WBO middleweight champion Billy Joe Saunders (23-0, 12KOs) called for a unification with WBA/WBC/IBF/IBO champion Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin (36-0, 33KOs).

Saunders watched closely when Golovkin traveled over to the UK last Saturday and stopped Kell Brook in five at the O2 Arena in London.

After the fight was over, Golovkin placed Saunders at the top of his list for a future fight. Saunders has some bargaining power, as the holder of the only title Golovkin hasn't captured in the middleweight division.

Saunders is scheduled to defend his title on October 29th as part of the Tyson Fury vs. Wladimir Klitschko II undercard in Manchester.

"He keeps banging on about wanting a chance at my belt, now I'll give him a chance if he wants it," Saunders said. "I'm ready to fight wherever he wants, I don't care if it's in England, America, I don't care if it's in a field, I'll fight him wherever he wants."

"Golovkin did what he should have done but I saw stuff at the weekend that I could certainly, certainly capitalise on. I know what I have to do and I know what it takes to beat someone like him. With me, it's a challenge and the bigger the challenge the more I perform. I really honestly don't believe that I've put on the big, big stand-out performance that I know I can.

"I don't need to say that because I've won all my fights but I know there's mountains more to come and fighting someone like Golovkin will well and truly bring it out. All he is is a man. People are beat before they get in the ring with him, people are like rabbits in headlights when they're looking at him, there is definitely not that on me."

Golovkin will have to wait on a shot at Saunders, as the WBA has ordered him to fight mandatory challenger Daniel Jacobs within 120 days.

Oleg Hermann, who manages Golovkin, is not buying Saunders' talk.

"Our plan is to unify the titles. But WBA ordered us to fight Daniel Jacobs so we have to focus on that. Then we'll look at the unification fight with Saunders, who allegedly is interested in fighting Golovkin after our mandatory defense. For the Saunders fight we want to book a Las Vegas arena, but as of right now we don’t take his words seriously. Our experience tells us that a guy who talks too much is not ready to fight," Hermann told BoxingScene.com/Allboxing.ru.
