According to Abel Sanchez, trainer of IBF, WBC, WBA, IBO middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (37-0, 33 KOs), a rematch with Daniel Jacobs (32-2, 29 KOs) is not going to happen any time soon.

Last month at New York's Madison Square Garden, Golovkin won a close twelve round unanimous decision over Jacobs. The scores were 114-113, 115-112, 115-112.

It was the first time that Golovkin went the twelve round distance, and the fight also snapped GGG's 23 fight knockout streak.

Jacobs and his team are demanding a rematch. They believe the victory should have been theirs.

For Sanchez, Golovkin's next couple of fights are already in the works and Jacobs is not one of them.

Golovkin is in talks to face Canelo Alvarez in September during Mexican Independence Day weekend - if Canelo defeats Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. on May 6th in Las Vegas. Beyond Canelo, Sanchez is hinting at the possibility of moving up in weight to 168-pounds - possibly to take on WBO super middleweight world champion Gilberto Ramirez.

"The future is kind of mapped out in the near future at the moment. If it does happen maybe it’s three or four fights away. Gennady is fighting in September against somebody, and if it’s Canelo then it will be Canelo, then after that, it will be his 20th defense. Will he stay and do the 21st defense to break Bernard Hopkins’ record?," Sanchez told On The Ropes Boxing Radio.

"I don’t know if he stays at 160 pounds or if he moves up to 168 pounds before the end of the year or at the beginning of next year. The guy who has been talking about fighting him is Gilberto Ramirez, so there are possibilities there. The next three or four fights are really scheduled already, or tentatively scheduled. A Jacobs fight would be five or six fights down the road."
