Golden Boy Promotions' head matchmaker, Robert Diaz, indicated how confident the company is after last Friday's sensational performance by lightweight star Ryan Garcia (20-0, 17 KOs), after he knocked Francisco Fonseca out cold with a single punch in the first round.

There is now talk of Garcia facing former world champion Jorge Linares in the summer. Linares knocked out Carlos Morales in the co-feature.

"He is working very hard, the results are getting excellently better than one could anticipate, and that shows that the work he is doing in the gym is top-notch," Diaz said on the program Contragolpeo.

"The fight with Linares is very viable. In the past Ryan said he wanted to fight with Romero Duno, with Linares, Luke Campbell and Gervonta Davis - so we giving himself what he proposed."

Diaz also indicated that at one point Ryan was accelerating at too quick of a pace by asking for fights before he was physically ready for them, so they had to talk to his team and calm him down.

"At the time Ryan asked for certain fights when it wasn't the right time and we had to tell him to calm down, go at a slower pace and now he is showing us that he is ready for those fights and more," Diaz.

Diaz also gave his take on the video that appeared on BoxingScene.com, where WBC lightweight champion Devin Haney confronted Golden Boy shareholder Bernard Hopkins and requested a fight with Garcia.

"That speaks of how well Ryan is coming along, when a world champion is looking for a guy who is under him, because that implies that we are doing well," Diaz said.
