Super middleweight Carl Froch (28-2, 20KOs) is not going to suffer in the WBC rankings. On December 17th in Atlantic City, Froch lost a twelve round unanimous decision to Andre Ward, who unified the WBC/WBA titles and won the Super Six Boxing Classic. The WBC released their new rankings and Froch was dropped down to the number two position, which means it won't take him long to get back to a mandatory title shot.

Froch could easily lose his ranking by reaching an agreement to face IBF champion Lucian Bute. If Froch wins, the WBC would drop him from the ratings due his championship status for a rival sanctioning body. If he loses, the WBC will likely drop him further in the rankings.

First up for Ward, is undefeated Anthony Dirrell (24-0, 21 KOs). Dirrell won a WBC final eliminator on December 2nd with a fourth round stoppage win over Renan St. Juste.
