Promoter Frank Warren remains livid at accusations suggesting his charge Tyson Fury intentionally tried to sabotage his fight with Oleksandr Usyk for the undisputed heavyweight championship.

The head of Queensberry Promotions took umbrage, in particular, at comments made by two of Usyk’s key handlers, his manager Egis Klimas and promoter Alex Krassyuk, that cast doubt on the legitimacy of Fury’s cut, which led to the postponement of their Feb. 17 showdown in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The fight has been rescheduled to May 18.

Immediately after news of the injury broke, Klimas and Krassyuk made the media rounds to express their disappointment with the development. Klimas, who also represents Vasiliy Lomachenko, was particularly spiteful, and suggested in one of his remarks that Paris Fury, Fury’s wife, deliberately caused the wound by taking a “frying pan” to his head. (Fury suffered a gruesome cut in the same area several years ago during his fight with Otto Wallin).

Krassyuk, who was careful not to deny the legitimacy of the cut itself, suggested that a widely shared video purporting to show the moment Fury suffered the injury was basically specious.

When asked to respond to Team Usyk, Warren offered an enraged retort.

“They’re a pair of pricks, how about that?” Warren told a group of reporters this past weekend. “That’s what they are. They keep going on about this. It’s just ridiculous. You know what? All these idiots that listen to this because that’s what they are, moronic idiots to think that Tyson is getting paid all this money would do that. What planet is everyone on? Where do I think it comes from? Idiots. And you know why? Idiots feed idiots.

“They’ve been from day one—you remember going back to last year. ‘Oh, Tyson is pulling out of the fight. Tyson doesn’t want to fight his man.’ Keeps saying, ‘greedy belly’ and all that bullsh!t all the way through. And so many people, including that idiot [talkSPORT radio host] Adam Catterall, picked up on that and made their decision. And yet when I confront[ed] Alex Krassyuk face to face, in front of a camera, and said all that to me, he just sat there and looked down, because he knew it was rubbish. And they just keep peddling this bullsh!t to people who feel that would listen to it.

“They say ‘haters’ or whatever else. That’s the world we live in at the moment. Anyone with a quarter of a brain will know that the fight is on. It’s on May the 18th. These guys are fighting.”

Turki Alalshikh, the powerful Saudi advisor financially backing the fight, insisted that a $10 million penalty was at stake for whoever tries to pull out of the May 18 showdown.
