Mexican Olympic and former world champion Francisco 'Bandido' Vargas will return to the ring on October 19 in Chihuahua, Mexico, with a scheduled 10 round bout in the lightweight division, according to ESPN Deportes.

Vargas moves up following an extensive campaign in the super featherweight division.

Vargas, 34-years-old and a 25-2-2 professional record with 18 knockouts, was recently knocked out this past May by the super featherweight champion of the World Boxing Council, Miguel Berchelt.

Vargas, who trains with veteran coach Joel Díaz in California, will campaign at 135 pounds after practically spending his entire career at 130 pounds.

On that same Golden Boy Promotions card, Oscar Duarte will look for his third consecutive victory after losing his unbeaten record in February of this year to Adrián Estrella. Duarte, 23, has a 17-1-1 record and 12 knockouts.

The former world champion, Óscar Valdez began camp in San Diego, California, under the supervision of Mexican coach Eddy Reynoso, who is already working with Canelo Álvarez and Ryan García - who both are scheduled to return to the ring on November 2 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Valdez will return to action on November 30 at Cosmopolitan, also in Las Vegas, which will be his 130-pound debut, potentially against Andres Guittierez, as reported early by BoxingScene.com. Valdez had at least one month of training on his native Sonora with coach Vladimir Baldenebro.

Oscar will have just his third camp with Eddy Reynoso in the corner, after having reached the end of his working relationship with coach Manny Robles. With Eddy in the corner, Valdez knocked out Carmine Tommasone and defeated Jason Sánchez by points.
