Former two division world champion Carl Frampton has said he will take some time before considering his future in the sport of boxing.

This past Saturday night, Frampton suffered the second loss of his pro career when he dropped a twelve round unanimous decision to Josh Warrington in Manchester.

The Jackal soaked up a relentless flurries of punches from the Leeds man. While Frampton tried to give as good as he got, he still trailed on the scorecards and would have needed a decisive knockout to have any chance at victory.

Warrington walked away with a huge win, based on scorecards reading 116-112, 116-112, 116-113.

Frampton remained, as ever, gracious in defeat – even pointing to his opponent before the result was even announced and then lifting him into the air as he celebrated.

Now, the 31-year-old fighter says he will take some time and then sit down with his team to discuss his future.

“I’m just going to enjoy Christmas with my kids,” Frampton said.

“I’ve been involved in boxing a lot time, since I was seven-years-old, and the last year-and-a-half has been the best.

“I’ll sit down with my team and the people around me and we’ll make a decision.”

While Warrington only boasts 6 knockouts in 28 fights, Frampton indicates that his opponents has heavy hands.

“There's absolutely no excuses for me,” said Frampton.

“I was in cracking shape coming into this fight and the better man won, simple as that. I hope he goes on to unify, his whole team are all decent people. It wasn't my night – I was fit and strong but Josh was fitter and stronger.

“I was hurt a number of times. Whoever said that Josh can't punch doesn't know what they're talking about. He is a quality fighter, I didn't underestimate him but he's even better than I thought. He's clever, he had a good gameplan, he's fit, he's tough, he has it all and he can punch hard.”
