As part of a huge show called “Boxing For You V”, televised by four networks in Brazil, Esquiva Falcao (23-0, 15 KO’s), WBA #5, IBF #8 and WBC #10 in the 160 pound rankings, had no problems in dominating the tough veteran and former world title challenger from Argentina, Jorge “El Chino” Miranda (56-18, 22 ko’s) over ten rounds in the specially mounted arena at the beach of the Portobello Resort & Safari, in Magaratiba, Rio de Janeiro, this past Sunday night.

The three scores showed 99-89 in favor of the London 2012 middleweights runner-up, who had a point deducted for a low blow in the sixth round, but dominated all fight.

Miranda did everything to hold on until the final bell rang. He even used illegal tactics in the ring, which led him to be penalized by the referee Walmir Giolli, who took him a point away after several fouls in the fifth round. He was close to being knocked down many times, but stayed on his feet.

Falcao, younger brother of middleweight contender Yamaguchi, is now in line to face the WBA "regular" champion, Rob Brant.

In the co-main event, Rio Olympics golden medalist Robson Conceicao (12-0, 6 KO’s) destroyed the Argentinian Sergio Ariel Estrela (20-17-3, 11 KO’s), knocking him down four times before forcing the stoppage of the referee.

The local super featherweight hurt Estrela right at the beginning with vicious body shots that took away any chance of his South American fellow to stay in the fight.

Now Conceicao plans to go down to the 126 lbs division to pursue one of the major titles until the end of 2019.

The third medalist on the card, Adriana Araujo (3-0, 1 KO’s) came back after almost two years away and it didn’t took long to handle Elaine Albuquerque (1-3, 0 KO’s) in a rematch.

Araujo had previously beaten Albuquerque, on points, in 2017.

But this time she took care of business in stellar fashion, dropping her opponent three times with amazing overhands shots and finishing the fight before the first round ended. The bronze medalist at the lightweight division in the London 2012 games will now probably fight in the next edition of the “Boxing For You” card, that will happen in May, for the Latino light welterweight title.

The “Boxing For You V” was presented by BSM-Group-Boxing For You, and co-promoted by Top Rank. Brad Goodman, matchmaker Top Rank, was present at the event that will happen five more times this year in Brazil.
