IBF welterweight world champion Errol Spence (23-0, 20 KOs) is planning to do a real job on his mandatory challenger, Carlos Ocampo (22-0, 13 KOs) - who some bookies have pegged as a 100-1 underdog.

The Showtime televised contest takes place later tonight from The Ford Center at The Star in Dallas, Texas.

The looming defense will be the second for Spence since capturing the world title last year with a stoppage win over Kell Brook. Earlier this year, Spence broke down Lamont Peterstion for a TKO win.

Spence is headlining before his hometown crowd - and more than 14,000 fans are expected to pack the venue for their local hero.

"It feels good to be fighting back at home in Dallas. This is where I started and where my core fan base is. It's great to fight in front of my people and even better that I can do it as a world champion now," Spence said.

"I wanted to make my first title defense in Dallas, but everything happens for a reason and now I have this great opportunity to fight at the Dallas Cowboys' facility. It's an incredible venue that has everything you would want. It's going to be a great atmosphere."

Ocampo has promised to upset the wide odds - but it's not expected to happen.

Last Saturday night in Las Vegas, Terence Crawford made a statement when he moved up to the welterweight division to dominate and stop Jeff Horn for the WBO world title.

And now Spence intends to make a statement of his own.

"I'm a versatile fighter who is able to switch it up. I can box from the outside but also go on the inside. These are things that we're always working on in the gym. Our opponent may bring something different than we expected into the ring, so we work on having a plan for everything," Spence said.

"I've been putting this division on notice for a while. June 16 is another day that we're going to give another one-sided performance and dominate. I've had the welterweight division on notice since my first fight. They know I'm here."
