Former WBO cruiserweight champion Enzo Maccarinelli, who wants to become a top light heavyweight, has challenged newly-crowned WBO 175-pound champion Nathan Cleverly to an all-Welsh clash. Maccarinelli was ringside at London's O2 Arena on Saturday when Cleverly retained his title for the first time with a fourth round stoppage of Aleksy Kuziemski. Cleverly wants the big names like WBC champion Bernard Hopkins, but Macca can't see promoter Frank Warren putting those two in the ring together, at least now at the moment.

"That's definitely a fight that's on the cards and what a big Welsh fight that would be - hopefully at Swansea's Liberty Stadium," said Maccarinelli to the BBC. "I don't think Frank Warren would put him anywhere near Bernard Hopkins. He's 46 years of age but he's still class. You saw the trouble he gave Joe. Some people questioned that decision but I thought Joe won very well. But Hopkins still caused trouble against the best fighter on the planet - Joe was the best fighter on the planet. Nathan is not the best fighter on the planet."
