Only a few minor details need to be ironed out before 'Filipino Flash' Nonito Donaire, Jr. gets another shot at a world title.

According to his manager Cameron Dunkin, they are very close to reaching a deal with the camp of World Boxing Association (WBA) super bantamweight champion Scott Quigg of the United Kingdom.

Dunkin said they are working on a November 21 fight date in Manchester where Quigg is considered a highly popular fighter.

“We’re all close. There are just a couple of things that have to be ironed out. We’re just trying to figure out a few details and hopefully we get this fight done and fight on the 21st of November,” said Dunkin.

If plans push through, it will be Donaire’s first foray in Europe, something that does not concern Dunkin despite the seemingly immense popularity of the undefeated British champion.

“With Nonito I don’t think it’s going to matter. It has never mattered wherever he’s fought. He’s been in situations before where he was a big underdog and nothing fazes Nonito,” said Dunkin.

The 32-year-old Donaire is coming off back-to-back stoppage wins, and in a lot of ways they have helped the General Santos City-native fighter recover from a shocking knockout loss at the hands of dangerous puncher Nicholas Walters of Jamaica.

Donaire surrendered his WBA featherweight crown to Walters when he was stopped in the sixth round of their unification match last October in Carson City, California.

Dunkin is upbeat about Donaire’s upcoming fight opposite Quigg, which may exorcise the ghost of the Filipino’s stunning loss to Walters.

“Nonito would not care how tough you are or how many fans you’ve got. When Nonito hits you somewhere that’s going to change the result. He just wants to stay busy and go back to where he was before,” said Dunkin.

Donaire has a ring record of 35-3 with 23 knockouts while Quigg parades an unblemished tally of 31-0, 23 by KO’s.
