On March 8th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Ricardo "Dinamita" Alvarez (23-2-3, 14KOs) could make history in his family, by becoming the third brother to win a world title. He will challenge Omar Figueroa (22-0-1, 17KOs) for the WBC lightweight world title on the Saul Alvarez-Alfredo Angulo undercard. Ricardo's brothers, Canelo and Rigoberto Alvarez won titles at junior middleweight.

"It's very important to me and that has me very motivated, to win the title and make history. The only going through my mind is victory, achieve my dream of becoming world champion and what better than on the same card as my brother. That's the best scenario a boxer can have," Alvarez said.

"Figueroa is strong, but I am too. He takes a lot of punches as well. In his most recent fight with the Japanese fighter, Arakawa hit him often but he doesn't have much of a punch. This fight will have a lot of action, but I'm going to fight intelligently. Sometimes I think about how hard it was to get this opportunity, because I struggled so much inside and outside of the ring. I have encountered many obstacles in my way and thank God because I never gave up before the big break. I am certain that I'm here for a reason and the fight is now or never."
