It's been a long journey for Devin Haney (28-0, 15 KOs), but the undefeated boxer achieved his dream on Sunday, at Marvel Stadium in Melbourne, Australia.

Haney outboxed unbeaten George Kambosos over twelve rounds to become the undisputed world champion at 135-pounds. He's heading back to Las Vegas with the WBC, WBA, IBF, WBO world titles around his waist.

For several years, Haney was under constant abuse from many critics, and opponents - who labeled him the "email champ."

Back in 2019, Haney became the WBC's interim-champion at lightweight.

He was in position to fight for the full WBC title, with the champion being Vasiliy Lomachenko.

In a controversial move, the WBC granted Lomachenko the status of "Franchise champion" - and, at the same time, automatically elevated Haney to full champion without fighting anyone to earn that strap.

Lomachenko would eventually lose that Franchise status to Teofimo Lopez in 2020. And then Lopez suffered an upset loss to Kambosos in 2021.

By defeating Kambosos, Haney set the record straight and finally closed the book on the ongoing "who is the real WBC lightweight champion" debate.

"This is a great feeling. Everyone who was doubting me, everybody who said this and that, they came up with this email champ thing - well now email champ is the top dog, undisputed. There is no dispute, you cannot dispute any title that I have here. This is a dream come true and I couldn't thank God enough for all this. [As far as the critics], f--- them, I'm the top dog now.," Haney said.

There will be a rematch later in the year.

Kambosos has the option to exercise an immediate rematch clause, which he intends to do. The second fight, like the first, will also take place in Kambosos' backyard of Australia.
