The World Boxing Council minimumweight eliminator between former Silver champion Denver Cuello and Panama”s Carlos Ortega has been pushed back after the No.1 ranked Ortega suffered a surprising 9th round TKO loss to 23 year old Ricardo Perez in a WBC Silver championship bout on December 20 in Cancun, Mexico after being dropped in rounds three and four.

Cuello’s manager/trainer as well as promoter Aljoe Jaro informed BoxingScene.com/Manila Standard/Viva Sports that he is “waiting for a decision by WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman” who the new opponent of Cuello would be  following Ortega’s loss .

Aljoe Jaro said he expects the title eliminator to be held in the last week of March. Among the likely opponents to face the No.2 ranked Cuello is No. 3 ranked  32 year old Raul “Rayito”Garcia, the former world champion who won the IBF title with a split decision over Filipino southpaw Florante Condes on June 14, 2008 in Garcia’s hometown of La Paz, Mexico despite Garcia being dropped in the 12th round.
