Promoter Oscar De La Hoya says former champion Joshua Clottey is a durable opponent for the December return of Mexican super Saul "Canelo" Alvarez. Clottey is under high consideration for the fight. De La Hoya was impressed with Clottey's victory earlier this year, when he traveled over to Australia and beat up former three division world champion Antonio Mundine for a lopsided decision.

"Clottey is an option, he's coming off a big win over Anthony Mundine, where he knocked him down five or six times. It was a great victory. He looked good, strong. He went the distance with Pacquiao, Margarito, and had a close fight with Cotto. Clottey is strong and he'll be right in front of you," De La Hoya said.

Canelo has a record of 44-1-1 and 31 knockouts while Clottey is 38-4 with 22 KO's. The only losses on Clottey's record have come against world champions Carlos Baldomir, Antonio Margarito, Miguel Cotto and Manny Pacquiao.
