LAS VEGAS – Clay Collard will have to wait for his second shot at Quincy LaVallais.

BoxingScene.com has confirmed that Collard tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday and has been removed from his fight scheduled for Saturday night versus LaVallais. Collard, 27, and LaVallais, 26, were supposed to fight again as part of the Vasiliy Lomachenko-Teofimo Lopez undercard at MGM Grand Conference Center.

Collard (9-2-3, 4 KOs), of Burley, Idaho, and LaVallais (9-0-1, 5 KOs), of Kenner, Louisiana, fought to a six-round split draw in June 2019 in New Orleans.

ESPN.com’s Steve Kim first reported Tuesday that Collard failed a COVID-19 test and was forced to withdraw from his eight-round middleweight match with LaVallais.

Pending approval from the Nevada State Athletic Commission, BoxingScene.com has learned that Atlanta’s Quatavious Cash has agreed to replace Collard as LaVallais’ opponent. Assuming Cash is approved, he’ll face LaVallais in an eight-rounder.

Cash (12-2, 7 KOs) last fought June 9, when he beat Calvin Metcalf (10-5-1, 3 KOs) by six-round technical decision at MGM Grand Conference Center.

Collard, a former MMA fighter, has rapidly developed a following among hardcore boxing fans who’ve watched the unheralded “opponent” upset unbeaten fighters. He defeated Raymond Guajardo (then 5-0) by second-round technical knockout and David Kaminsky (then 6-0) by six-round split decision in back-to-back bouts on February 1 and June 18, respectively.

Ukraine’s Lomachenko (14-1, 10 KOs) and Brooklyn’s Lopez (15-0, 12 KOs) will square off in a much-anticipated main event ESPN will televise Saturday night (10 p.m. ET; 7 p.m. PT). Their lightweight title unification fight will headline an eight-bout card, all of which will air live on ESPN, ESPN Deportes and ESPN+ starting at 7:30 p.m. ET/4:30 p.m. PT.
