Wilmer Hernandez, head trainer for former four division world champion Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez of Nicaragua, is furious over the outcome of last Saturday's fight at New York's Madison Square Garden.

Gonzalez lost a twelve round majority decision to mandatory challenger Srisaket Sor Rungvisai of Thailand.

Gonzalez dropped to 46-1, 38 KOs - and he was shocked to have suffered his first loss. He went down in the first round, which was only the second time he had tasted the canvas. The scores were 114-112, 114-112 and 113-113.

During the fight, Gonzalez suffered several serious cuts due to head clashes.

"We won that fight, I do not understand what happened to the judges that made them see the opposite of what the world saw. I was so confident that we were heading to a win. I do not really know what the judges saw, I believe, that there is money behind that decision," Hernandez said.

"I just do not want people to attack Román González after his big performance in New York. I prefer to say that it was the corner that failed, to point out that he boxed badly, because it is not fair, because on Saturday Román made the best fight of his entire career, better than when he fought with Carlos Cuadras, Francisco "El Gallo "Estrada, Akira Yaegashi and Brian Viloria."

"The Thai is a very lively fighter, but they trained him to come forward with that head, because there were approximately eight head clashes where anywhere else in the world he would have been penalized. What we have heard there might be a rematch with the Thai. I can assure you that in that rematch you will see a Roman with renewed eagerness to succeed.

"I was very happy with the training camp and how everything worked out to fight Rungvisai. That was what led us to win the fight, regardless of what the judges said."
