We’re now just over a month away from a very interesting heavyweight fight in London between undefeated American Malik Scott (35-0) and Dereck ‘Delboy’ Chisora (16-4). The BoxingAsylum recently caught up with Don and spoke with him on their weekly podcast. He was very complimentary of Scott and called him the best technical Heavyweight boxer he had seen in recent times.

“This guy, I’ve watched him and I can probably go as far to say that technically, the way he puts his punches together, he is the best heavyweight I’ve set my eyes on in recent times," said Charles.

“This guy puts punches together like a Middleweight, the combinations he throws, he’s very adventurous and experimental in the way he boxes and I like that. He’s a styler.”

Chisora was scheduled to take on another unbeaten American, Deontay Wilder, but that fight was scrapped after Wilder got into some trouble with the law which scuppered his plans to travel over to England for the fight. Taking on a boxer like Scott, who has a totally different style to Wilder, has surprised many fans.

“It reminds me a bit of my guy Ajose Olusegun, who I used to train. A guy who was 30-0 before they gave him somebody who no one else wanted to fight. Malik Scott is 35-0, what the hell are we thinking picking a fight with a guy who is 35-0? Guess what? There is no one else to fight in the top twenty, that’s why.

“Everybody else we approached said no. When Malik’s name came up we looked at it and thought this guy is very good, but you know what? We’re going to beat him.”
