Dennis Hogan has his work cut out for him Saturday night.

That was obvious as the Irish contender stood before unbeaten WBC world middleweight champion Jermall Charlo at their weigh-in Friday at The Tillary hotel in Brooklyn. The 5-feet-8 Hogan had to look up as he tried to look into the 6-foot Charlo’s eyes once they both met their contractual obligations on the scale.

Ireland’s Hogan (28-2-1, 7 KOs), who moved up from 154 pounds to fight for Charlo’s championship, stepped on the New York State Athletic Commission’s scale at 158¼ pounds. Houston’s Charlo (29-0, 21 KOs) officially weighed 159½ pounds for the second defense of his WBC world 160-pound crown.

“Look, I fight for my family – I fight for my life,” Charlo told Showtime’s Steve Farhood following the weigh-in, before yelling toward Hogan. “You’re gonna be fighting for your life tomorrow, boy! Talk that sh-t tomorrow! Yeah, you better be this f---ing bold tomorrow! You know who you steppin’ in front of! You know who the f---I am! You know who you’re stepping in front of! You’re gonna see tomorrow!”

Some oddsmakers have listed the 29-year-old Charlo as a 25-1 favorite to beat the 34-year-old Hogan in their 12-round, 160-pound championship match. Showtime will televise Charlo-Hogan as the main event of a tripleheader scheduled to start at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.

Earlier Friday, Chris Eubank Jr. and Matt Korobov both made weight for their own 12-round, 160-pound title bout.

England’s Eubank (28-2, 21 KOs) came in at 159¼ pounds for his first fight at the middleweight limit in 3½ years. The Russian-born Korobov (28-2-1, 14 KOs) officially weighed 159 pounds.

The 30-year-old Eubank, who’ll make his debut in the United States, and the 36-year-old Korobov will fight for the WBA’s interim middleweight title.

Marlon Tapales and Ryosuke Iwasa also came in under the limit Friday for their 12-round, 122-pound title fight, which will open Showtime’s telecast.

The Philippines’ Tapales (33-2, 16 KOs) stepped on the NYSAC’s scale at 121¼ pounds. Japan’s Iwasa (26-3, 16 KOs) officially weighed 121½ pounds.

Tapales, 27, and Iwasa, 29, will fight for the IBF’s interim super bantamweight title.
