The now former junior welterweight world champion of the International Boxing Federation (IBF), Cesar Cuenca , returned to Argentina and lashed out against American referee David Fields, whom he considers responsible for his loss to undefeated Russian Eduard "The Eagle "Troyanovsky on Wednesday - where Cuenca suffered a sixth round TKO loss at the Basketball Hall Arena in Kazan, Russia.

Cuenca (48-1-2, 2 KOs) was having some very tough moments against Troyanovsky (23-0, 20 KOs) with a wild scene in the sixth round. Cuenca went down from the weight of the Russian challenger when Cuenca missed a shot and Troyanovsky was hovering over him. The referee did not issue a knockdown call. Cuenca got up with blood streaming down from a cut around his left eye.

The referee spoke to Cuenca and then stopped the fight, claiming the Argentinian fighter was not willing to continue. Cuenca's corner went wild and were practically on the verge of physically attacking Fields.

Cuenca, who does not speak English, says he never told the referee that he was unable to continue.

"I trained hard my for this fight, but there was a mistake by the referee. I at no time told him I did not want to fight. It was a mistake by him. But now we will return in March and recover the title was taken from me," Cuenca said.

"Troyanovsky hits extremely strong. But we knew what to do with our work and strategy. I never thought he was going to stop the fight, I wanted to continue. I don't know why the referee said that because I do not speak English."
