Former world champion Carlos Cuadras put an end to a year of inactivity, and with effective and aggressive boxing, defeated Lamberto Macias from Sinaloa by wide unanimous decision in the main event of the "Box in Paradise" show presented by Bxstrs in La Huerta, Jalisco.

Cuadras (40-5-1, 27 KO's) utilized an aggressive strategy. He was effective with his mid-range combinations and landed power shots that rocked his opponent.

Macias (16-8-1, 12 KO's) counterattacked and had good moments, hitting the "Príncipe" with long distance shots and resorting to a lot of holding moments of urgency.

In the fourth round, Cuadras staggered Macías, who appeared to be in bad shape and practically out on his feet - but he did not go down, nor did the referee intervene, and Lamberto endured hard punches from the former world champion, and finished the round.

During the fifth round, Cuadras sought to finish the job and put pressure on Macías, landing power shots on him, staggering him again, but realizing that he was not going to knock him out. He decided to slow things down to manage his conditioning.

The second half of the fight saw Cuadras imposing his abilities as a boxer, and Macías was looking to counterattack and avoid further damage. Cuadras varied his attack until the end of the ten rounder - which saw him, come away unanimously with a wide decision win. There were two 99-91 cards, and the third judge saw it 97-93.

At the end of the fight, Cuadras praised the quality and resistance of his rival, and said that he expects a third fight against current world champion Juan Francisco “Gallo” Estrada.

The contest was the first for Cuadras since losing a twelve round unanimous decision to Jesse 'Bam' Rodriguez in February of 2022.
