Los Ángeles, Calif. - Former welterweight champion Carlos Baldomir is ready explode on the 20-year-old Mexican star, Saul "Canelo" Alvarez. They fight on the Shane Mosley-Sergio Mora undercard on Saturday night at Staples Center in Los Angeles.

"On Saturday, it's just going to be one more fight. Play time is over, he's going to fight a world champion. I will touch a kid's face, who is only 20 years old and I have all my experience, and as always I will walk out with my hands raised. Even when others in the past were the favorites to beat me, I still won," Baldomir said.

Alvarez has taken some slack for facing Baldomir, who nearly 20-years-older at age 39. Alvarez doesn't understand why the critics are on his back over the contest.

"(Shane) Mosley is nearly 40-years-old and nobody says it. (Bernard) Hopkins, at age 45 does not lose to anybody. The people who talk, do not realize that I'm only 20-years-old, and (Oscar) De La Hoya and (Julio Cesar) Chavez (Sr.) had a process that they had to go through. Baldomir is a boxer who has fought the best. I know that I'm facing a difficult undertaking, but I have to face these kind of opponents to grow as a fighter," Alvarez said.
