Saul “Canelo” Alvarez was in Los Angeles on the first stop of a four city tour to promote his pay per view fight with Cuban Erislandy Lara as they will square off July 12th in Las Vegas, NV.

Aside from Alvarez talking about his upcoming assignment, he was asked to share his thoughts regarding this past weekend’s big fight between Floyd “Money” Mayweather and Marcos “Chino” Maidana.

Alvarez knows about Mayweather’s complicated style all too well as just last September he was beaten by the pound for pound king. He agrees Maidana posed issues for Mayweather early in the fight but feels eventually Mayweather made the proper adjustments.

“I think Maidana’s style became difficult for Floyd. Maidana’s style is to throw from everywhere and anywhere and I think that style was difficult for Mayweather. [Later in the fight], Floyd adjusted and began to dominate him and dominate the fight until the end," Canelo said.

Mayweather had promised to stand in front of Maidana and not move as much which resulted in a fun fight for the fans. Alvarez was asked if Mayweather fought him the same way he fought Maidana if things would pan out differently.

"That’s why he’s there [at the top] because he knows who to fight a certain way” shared Alvarez.

The Mayweather fight aside, Alvarez is ready to take on Lara who most deem the toughest challenge in the division.
