The lawsuit pertaining to the promotional contract of Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (42-0-1, 30KOs) continues to play out at the Miami-Dade court in Florida. Promoter Tuto Zabala Jr. of All Star Boxing filed the lawsuit in 2011 against Canelo and Golden Boy Promotions.

Zabala claims that Canelo breached a four year contract that was signed in September 2008 for a four year period, and the second claim alleges that Golden Boy interfered with his contract when they signed him up.

Zabala says he discovered the WBC/WBA 154-pound champion when he was a 17-year-old fighter.

"Everything is going well, moving along, and we're continuing to gather evidence, taking depositions and we're looking at every detail to have a stronger case," said Zabala's attorney Alex Brito to George Ebro. "We believe we have the right evidence on our side and we will be victorious."

Zabala is looking to get compensated for damages and for Canelo to honor their promotional agreement.

"I want to get paid and stay with the boxer. What I want is for him to return to me and honor the deal that both of us signed at the time. Oscar De La Hoya and his people think they can trample the little guys in this business. We have rights and documents indicating that Canelo has a contract to honor."

The case is still in the discovery stage and Zabala alleges that he paid more than $180,000 in building Canelo's image.
