BoxingScene.com has been advised that Caleb Plant (16-0, 10 KOs) will face Rogelio 'Porky' Medina (38-8, 32 KOs) in an IBF super middleweight eliminator for the number #2 ranking slot - which is currently vacant.

Plant is ranked at #6, while Medina has a ranking spot of #12.

Plant vs. Medina will be the co-featured bout to the FOX card on February 17th, which takes place from the Don Haskins Center in El Paso, Texas. The card is headlined by a welterweight bout between former world champions Victor Ortiz and Devon Alexander.

The winner of Plant vs. Medina will come within reach of a world title shot, with Caleb Truax currently sitting on the throne with the IBF title. Both Truax and Plant are managed by Al Haymon.

At the moment, Truax appears to be heading in the direction of a rematch with James DeGale, who Haymon also handles. Truax, as a major underdog, won an upset twelve round decision over DeGale last month at the Copper Box in London.

Plant saw action twice in 2017, and there were few problems in either outing - as he secured one-sided decision wins over Thomas Awimbono in February and Andrew Hernandez in September.

On the hand, Medina had a 50-50 year. He suffered his first stoppage loss since 2013, when David Benavidez put him away in the eight round of a final WBC eliminator last May in Texas. Benavidez is now the WBC world champion at 168-pounds. Medina closed the year out with a win. He bounced back in September, when he picked up a third round stoppage of Daniel Yocupicio in Hermosillo, Mexico.

The FOX card will finish up before the start of another Premier Boxing Champions telecast, on Showtime, which takes place from Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas- and is headlined by a welterweight eliminator fight between former champions Danny Garcia and Brandon Rios.
